When you click on the icon above, this is what the search screen will look like:

  1. Bullet  Enter your search terms in the search box.

  1. Bullet  Unfortunately, our catalog software does not recognize accents, tildes, and other diacritics, so please do NOT use them.

  1. Bullet  Use the drop-down menu to “Find Any Word” or “Find All Words” or “Match Phrase” exactly.

  1. Bullet  Check the “Whole Word Match” box, if you don’t want variations of words.  For example, if you only want to search for “run” NOT runaway, runner, rung, running, runny, or runway.

  1. Bullet  Next, click on the kind of search you want to do:  Title, Author, Keyword, Subject, or Dewey call number.

  1. Bullet  To search for a person (as an author or a subject), type the last name, first, followed by as much of the first name as you know, and then click on the “Author Search” or “Subject Search” box.

  1. Bullet  A subject can be a topic, person, place, event, etc.  However, you must use the exact beginning of a Library of Congress Subject Heading to do a subject search.

  1. Bullet  Searching by “Keyword” will locate items where your “keyword” appears in the Title, Author, or Subject.  This is a way to find topic if you don’t know the “official” Library of Congress Subject Heading.

  1. Bullet  To find a list of all the DVDs we have, type “DVDs” in the search box and click on “Dewey Search.”   And, for a list of our audio books, enter “Audio” in the search box and click on “Dewey Search.”
