About the Hike:  The Cuishe Trail hike is a new addition to the Hoofing It In Oaxaca as of August 2022. The hike follows some interconnecting unpaved roads through rolling countryside to the southwest of Oaxaca from a point near Lobera to the small village of La Raya. The excursion is rated moderate. The Cuishe Trail meanders through the rolling hills on the western edge of the Zimatlan valley. The round-trip distance amounts to 9.5 kilometers (5.9 miles), with an elevation gain of 185 meters (609 feet) and loss of 294 meters (967 feet). There is no shade along the way, so hats, sunbrellas and sunscreen are recommended.
