About the Hike:  The trail starts just outside the village of Lachatao and follows old trade trails down to the river and slightly deeper into the forest alng the river. Our walk runs mainly downhill the first half of the hike and then along the river, and then back out the same way. This is considered one of the most beautiful trails in the Pueblos Mancomunados. However, as it is deep in a valley it does not offer the kinds of panoramic vistas available on some other trails (i.e. Cuajimoloyas to Benito Juárez or Benito Juárez to La Neveria). The hike is through a mossed oak forest and is mixed sun and shade.
