About the Hike:  

Life is quiet and unhurried in the rural reaches of the western Etla Valley. The rolling hill country there is attractive to both hikers and mountain bikers. The route of today’s hike grew out of Albi’s exploration of the area aboard his mountain bike. We feel sure you will enjoy it every bit as much walking as Albi and friends have on two wheels. The hike itself is quite easy, as the route follows well-groomed dirt roads all the way into Cuilapam and runs downhill all the way. As a special treat, participants will visit the ruins of the Dominican monastery in Cuilapam, then adjourn to the Hacienda Cuilapam restaurant for a really splendid buffet lunch. 

Distance:  7.7 Kms (4.8 Miles)  /   Elevation change:  gradual descent totaling 128 meters (420 feet)  /   Type:  point to point  /  Trail:  mostly dirt road with two stream  crossings  /  Exposure:  mix of sun and shade
