In this talk, we will explore how access to zero-interest microloans and business education serves as a true catalyst for transformation for women in rural communities from Tlacolula Valley, Oaxaca. Drawing on the daily work and experiences of Fundación En Vía, we will examine what financial empowerment truly means: going beyond generating independent income to strengthen decision-making, self-confidence, and leadership within families and communities.


Viviana Ruiz Boijseauneau is the Executive Director of Fundación En Via. She has extensive experience in community development, built through daily work with various civil society organizations for over 20 years. With a background in architecture and a deep commitment to horizontal philanthropy, she has dedicated her career to championing community-led initiatives and sustainable development. She has served as an active board member of several non-profit organizations, including the Oaxaca Lending Library (OLL), always striving to promote sustainable projects tailored to the context and realities of individuals and their communities.
