Acerca del evento

There are many cultural and social practices that perplex travelers visiting Oaxaca.  This presentation will cover some of the current cultural and social practices and norms that are common throughout the State of Oaxaca.  We will focus on the expectations that are associated with the norms and practices that are common in shops, restaurants, walking around town and in Oaxacan homes.

Speakers:

Diana Carr is a retired medical anthropologist from Los Angeles, California.  Over the last thirty years, she has lived in various neighborhoods in the City of Oaxaca and in a small village in the Sierra Norte.  She has been visiting and living off and on in Oaxaca since 1993.

Coni Alcantar is the welcoming face of the Oaxaca Lending Library.  Coni was born and raised in Oaxaca and lived in the United States for several years.  When she is not at the Oaxaca Lending Library, she volunteers at various dog rescue and treatment centers.
