Synopsis:
Recently, young Oaxacan Ana Silvia Cantú is premiering her first documentary film with her work "El chef zapoteco," which has been selected for the "Raíces, Pueblos indígenas y originarios" (Roots, Indigenous and Native Peoples) exhibition by Shorts México, the largest short film festival in Latin America and the only one in Mexico specializing in this category.

Presenter:
Ana Silvia Cantú is an independent filmmaker born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Digital Media from the Tecnológico de Monterrey, where she produced and designed the short documentary Xóloti: La Magia en México, an Official Selection at DocsMX. She later pursued Film Production at Vancouver Film School, returning to Mexico during the pandemic to write, produce, and direct her first non-student short documentary, El Chef Zapoteco (The Zapotec Chef). The film premiered at Shorts México, the largest short film festival in Latin America and the only one in Mexico specializing in this category, and went on to be screened in international and national film festivals. Ana Silvia also produced and directed photography for the horror short Ante La Duda, an official selection at two national festivals. She graduated from Vancouver Film School in December 2023, specializing in Production and Cinematography, and her queer drama short Put The Fun In Funeral premiered at the University of Winnipeg and screened at festivals across Canada.
