SYNOPSIS:
In 2022 and 2023, the ground of the archaeological site of Mitla was scanned with 3 different geophysical technologies. This research is a collaboration between INAH, UNAM and the ARX Project Association. While the data from the 2023 phase is still in process, the finds from 2022 are available and represent a major update on precolumbian Mitla, especially the confirmation of a large cavity beneath the North Group where the church was built. We will discuss the story of this project, the findings, and what it means for the future of archaeology.
