Tour Description:

Zautla is a small community on the south side of the Etla valley, and they are a community that makes “curados”, or fruit based boozy beverages. Their

annual fair is on March 1 st , starting off with a Cabalgata, a horse parade, at 10AM. We’ll have free time at the fair, so you can enjoy something to

drink, eat, there is music planned and there are over 15 vendors to sample and buy “curados” from.

Around 12:30, we will head over to nearby Reyes Etla, the land of quesillo. Learn how this famous cheese is made with a demonstration of this family’s

cottage industry. After the demonstration (and sampling!), we will enjoy lunch at the family home.

Notes: Town fairs are slow, relaxed affairs. We go to enjoy what the town has to offer, relax into a different pace of life, and buy some local food and

beverages which are rarely found in the city. Bring a hat.

Additional Costs: The quesillo demonstration and lunch will be $400 pesos, paid directly to the local vendor. Curados and food at the Zautla fair will be

available for purchase.

This tour will depart on time  from Calle Los Libres behind the Grand Fiesta Americana Hotel. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before departure time. Unclaimed seats may be re-sold at boarding time.

If this tour is sold out, you can take a chance that seats may be available and come to the boarding spot 15 minutes before departure. These seats must be paid for in cash.

No Refunds will be available. If you are not able to attend the event, you are welcome to sell your reservation to others. Please notify the library of change of name for reservation.
