Tour Description:

Our first stop is at La Mesita, to enjoy the site in the cooler morning temperatures. La Mesita is an ecological reserve nestled into the valley in Etla.

Inspired by El Pedregal in Huayapam, La Mesita in Etla also includes a butterfly conservatory and other ecological practices that inspire. Learn about building and rebuilding sustainable agriculture on land that has fed humans and animals alike for thousands of years.

After learning about land, we’ll turn our attention to art and lunch.

The Centro de Arte de San Agustin, or CASA, is currently hosting a Francisco Toledo exhibit, Variaciones del Papel. Capítulo 3: Recopilar y

editar, which explores Toledo’s work with print and paper.

We will have lunch near CASA, at a family run hotel called Casa Maria, food choices will be sent by email prior to the event. You are also welcome to

bring a sack lunch and enjoy it in the shade in front of the church by the reflecting pools.

Additional Fees: Visit to La Mesita is about $120 per person, donations to CASA are appreciated, and you should expect to pay between $250 and $350 for lunch.

Notes: Moderate mobility is required for this trip. The visit includes a short hike to the lookout at La Mesita, walking around the site, steps at CASA.

This tour will depart on time  from Calle Los Libres behind the Grand Fiesta Americana Hotel. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before departure time. Unclaimed seats may be re-sold at boarding time.

If this tour is sold out, you can take a chance that seats may be available and come to the boarding spot 15 minutes before departure. These seats must be paid for in cash.

No Refunds will be available. If you are not able to attend the event, you are welcome to sell your reservation to others. Please notify the library of change of name for reservation.
