Tour Description: We couldn't resist planning a day to the Ocotlán de Morelos market when we saw that the dates aligned. This area is home to some of the best flower growers of the region, and the flowers used on the Day of the Dead altars are no exception. We'll start with a drive out to see some of the flower fields. The sheer carpet of color is amazing and the smell is captivating. We'll then head over to the market in Ocotlán for some snacking and some shopping. Flowers, candy sugar skulls, papel picado, candles and bread, oh my, the bread! We'll all have an opportunity to buy a little something special to bring back to the OLL, where we will refresh flowers and add our offerings to the beautiful altar at the OLL.

Before we leave the market, we will pop into the Municipal building to see the Rudolfo Morales murals, and then over to the community museum to see the Moraels collection housed there, and the collages are not to be missed.

We will head back into the city and enjoy lunch on the way back to the OLL, our final stop with a chance to refresh flowers on the alter, add our small contributions and enjoy a mezcal together.

Special considerations: Walking shoes and comfortable clothes as well as water and sunscreen are a must on this tour. You will walk up stairs, down into tombs, on uneven surfaces and through crowded markets. Leave your diamonds at home, bring money in small bills in your pocket or over the shoulder bag.

Additional Costs:  $50 pesos entrance fee to museum, snacks and lunch ($150 - $200 pesos)

This tour will depart on time from Calle Los Libres behind the Grand Fiesta Americana Hotel. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before departure time. Unclaimed seats may be re-sold at boarding time.

If this tour is sold out, you can take a chance that seats may be available and come to the boarding spot 15 minutes before departure. These seats must be paid for in cash.
