Be welcomed into Celina and Pedro's home, with their two dogs, packed dirt floor, kids Abigail and Pedro, and countless pots, drying herbs and tradition. Celina is famous in Xoxocotlán for her traditional cooking. She makes and sells over 300 tamales every Sunday and we have been invited to dive into tradition with her. Our day will start on the covered patio with tamale making. Celina will guide us in making traditional banana leaf tamales, and once they are layered in the pot to steam for an hour, we will sit down to enjoy a small plates degustacíon. Mole Rojo, mole negro, pasta de frijol, chichilo rojo... once our tamales are ready, we will take them steaming from the pot and enjoy those as well. After thanking Celina, we will take a short drive over to the Mezcal Capotlán, in Arrazola. We will have the opportunity to taste at least 5 varieties of their mezcal, learn about the work they do to try to make mezcal production more sustainable, and the partnerships they build with women in the community.

Special considerations: Mezcal and other products can be purchased and credit cards are accepted at Capotlán. This is a rustic and authentic experience.

Additional Costs:  $250 pesos per person for Celina, paid as you board the bus
