About the event

There will be a Book and Author Talk at the Oaxaca Lending Library on Wednesday, August 9 at 4:30pm.This program is free and open to the public.

Dr. A. Shane Dillingham, Assistant Professor of History at Arizona State University will present his award winning book,

Oaxaca Resurgent: Ingeneity, Development and Inequality in Twentieth Century Mexico, an examination of how indigenous people in Oaxaca shaped local as well as national politics throughout the 20th century. According to James Garza in the journal,  The Americas, "Dillingham weaves together a powerful story of resistance.....it uncovers the long history of indigenous activism that survived and thrived despite the oppressive nature of one of the longest-lived political regimes of the Western Hemisphere, a testament to the will of Oaxaca's communities."
