About the Hike:Today's hike is on a gorgeous section of the Camino de Juarez which passes through the Benito Juarez National Forest. The Camino de Juarez is a federally funded path that comemorates the walk that President Benito Juarez did as a child from his home town in Guelatao to Oaxaca de Juarez,when he was a young boy. Although the whole trail runs 46.5 kilometers, today's hike will be a 7.5 kilometer section, starting in the La Cumbre preserve and ending near El Punto.

Notes: The Camino de Juarez is paved, and this section incluces a long downhill section and steps. Exposure is a mixture of sun and dappled shade. Depending on the season, the trail is sometimes covered with pine needles.

Lunch: We will have lunch at one of the pretty comedors near El Punto

Additional Fees: $40 - $60 pesos is occassionally charged by the local tourist office for trail entrance. Lunch is between $150 and $300 pesos, and we pass the hat at the end of the day for tips for our guide and driver.

Time Frame: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Please arrive at the boarding location at least 15 minutes before departure.
