The name Teotitlán comes from Nahuatl and means “land of the gods”. Its Zapotec name is Xaguixe, which means “at the foot of the mountain”. It is known for its textiles, especially rugs, which are woven on hand-operated looms from wool dyed mainly with local, natural pigments. the trail starts in Teotitlán and climbs to the top of El Pacacho and back. the climb takes about 90 minutes and back down about 75 minutes. There are panoramic views at the top to reward those who make it all the  way. There is a 15 peso charge to hike the trail. After the hike the  group will stop for lunch at any of several restaurants in Tule on the  way back to Oaxaca. (Lunch not included in ticket price)
