About the Hike: El Carrizal is nestled in a small valley between Llano Grande and San Miguel del Valle. Our hike will start in Llano Grande, and we'll walk through the forest on old logging roads to Lake La Neveria, where we'll enjoy our sack lunches and then walk to El Carrizal. The hike is through undulating forest and this particular hike will end in the village of El Carrizal to enjoy the Wheat Festival. Enjoy local dancing and music from students, have a wheat atole, buy some apples and hand ground flour, and get lost in the magic of this special village.

Notes: Hikers arriving from sea level should not underestimate the effects that altitude can have on hiking stamina and capacity. This is a point to point hike. Bring extra layers for the morning, it will be a cool start, and a rain layer which you can leave on the bus.
