About the Hike: Going to Apoala is a journey into a time most of us only hear stories about, and staying overnight in this magical place offers a reset like no other. We usually hike into the village from San Miguel Chicahua (10KM, some bouldering and river crossings so rated difficult). Weather permitting we will do this hike. Weather not permitting, we will drive to Apoala and hike into the canyon from there.

Other hikes include the waterfall and lagoon (swim time assuming the water is not too high), walking along the river, hiking up to Cueva del Diablo, hiking to the pictographs, and there is a small cave we can explore. We will go and check out the Mirador (I love it for the volcanic rocks and red earth) and eat at the local comedores.

There are two different accommodation options, the cabins by the river (prices range from $600 to $1000 pesos per cabin and can be shared between 2 to 4 people) or the Casa de Mi Abuela Hotelito by the tourist office, there are 8 rooms and prices range from $550 to $1200 per room and can be shared between 2 to 4 people). Once reserved, the coordinator will send you accommodation details for consideration.
