About the event
Mindfulness invites us to come back to something that is always here: our body and the present moment. Join us for a gentle and practical session where we will explore mindfulness and body scanning, creating space to notice sensations, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves.
Purpose
• To provide practical tools for reducing stress through awareness
• To support emotional adaptation during life transitions
• To cultivate clarity, presence, and internal stability
• To offer a contemplative space within the community
Target Audience
• Adults and retirees
• International residents living in Oaxaca
• Individuals experiencing transition, relocation, or lifestyle changes
• Open to local community members interested in mindfulness
Participants, especially beginners, are recommended to attend all six sessions, monthly on the second Tuesday. RSVP is appreciated but not required. Programming is presented in English, with Spanish interpretation available.
This program, part of the year-long celebration of the OLL's 60th anniversary, is free and open to all.
Vasti María de Jesús Ayala Vásquez is a psychologist specializing in mindfulness-based approaches for emotional well-being, psychotherapy, and socio-emotional development. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mindfulness and holds multiple certifications as a mindfulness facilitator, including training in compassion, education, and the integration of mindfulness into therapeutic settings. Her professional work focuses on cultivating awareness, emotional regulation, and compassionate presence. She brings over 15 years of experience in private psychological practice, mindfulness group facilitation, socio-emotional skills education, and work with vulnerable populations, including women and children. Her career integrates contemplative practice with psychology, cross-cultural experience, and education, creating spaces that support self-awareness, healing, and holistic well-being.
