IMPORTANT: The price of entrance into the Mushroom Festival is $750 pesos and paid SEPARATELY, as it must be paid in cash in advance. Leave $750 pesos at the circulation desk with Cony or a volunteer OR contact the coordinator (outandaboutoaxaca@gmail.com) if you are not yet in Oaxaca to arrange for fee payment.

Tour Description:

We'll meet before dawn, at 5:45, to head up to Cuajimoloyas, the centre of the festival. Upon arrival have a small meal and atole before heading into the forest on a foraging expedition. More than 100 varieties of mushrooms are often foraged, and the competition is guided by local community members. each group has a local guide.

After the foraging, we come together to count each team's collections, enjoy talks and local activities, and then there is a massive mushroom meal for everyone.

Note: There is no organized group lunch on this tour but the main comida meal (which is enjoyed in the forest) is included in the community fee. Also included in the $750 fee is access to all the daily activities and a chart of edible mushrooms.

This tour will depart on time  from Calle Los Libres behind the Grand Fiesta Americana Hotel. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before departure time. Unclaimed seats may be re-sold at boarding time.

If this tour is sold out, you can take a chance that seats may be available and come to the boarding spot 15 minutes before departure. These seats must be paid for in cash.

No Refunds will be available. If you are not able to attend the event, you are welcome to sell your reservation to others. Please notify the library of change of name for reservation.
