Gwendolyn is a Mexican-American violist who earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Viola Performance from Baylor University, a Performance Diploma in Viola at the University of Michigan, and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from Texas Tech University in May 2024. She is also the creator and artistic director of SA’OAXACA, the International String Music Festival of Oaxaca.

She served as principal violist of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra from 2023 to 2025 and of the Oaxaca Symphony Orchestra from 2015 to 2016. She was invited to participate in the Brancaleoni International Music Festival in Piobbico, Italy, in the summer of 2018, and won the Mid-Texas Symphony Concerto Competition in 2013 and the Texas Tech School of Music Concerto Competition in November 2021.

As a chamber musician, Gwendolyn was a guest artist at the Rutenberg Chamber Music Series (Tampa, Florida), a recurring member of the Iris Collective (Germantown, Tennessee), and was recently invited to be principal violist for two Chamber Music Amarillo performances in the spring of 2025. She received the CH Foundation graduate fellowship to pursue her DMA at Texas Tech University under the tutelage of Philippe Chao, which allowed her to deepen her artistic and academic development.

Her dissertation, titled SA’OAXACA: The creation of a music festival as an act of resistance in a revolutionary state in the postcolonial reality of Mexico, explores themes of resistance and decolonization through the arts in Oaxaca and how the SA’OAXACA music festival has become part of this collective work. She recently accepted the position of Director of Education at Palaver Strings in May 2025.
