About the event

An interactive presentation that looks at some of the most common and colorful Mexican idioms, including those which are unique to Oaxaca. Nothing takes people faster into the culture of a country than getting acquainted with its proverbs and different levels of slang – from phrases your nice grandmother might say to insults overheard at midnight in a cantina!

Presenter:

I’m Roberto Cruz, and while many extranjeros know me as the “granola guy,” I have taught English and Spanish in Oaxaca for many years. I was born in Mexico but spent my adolescence and early adult life in the United States and therefore know the equivalent, non-literal idioms of both countries.
