The Presentation

Excerpts of the opera will be played during the presentation. Harvey will provide an overview of the story of the opera and point of hightlights of the performance.

The Opera - I Puritan by Vincenzo Bellini

I Puritan is an 1835 opera by Vincenzo Bellini, widely considered a masterpiece of the bel canto tradition. Set during the English Civil War, the plot involves a tragic love story between a Puritan woman and a Royalist man. Bellini's final opera, its score is celebrated for its stunning melodies and demands a virtuosic cast of singers.

The Presenter

Harvey Nystrom, a retiree to Oaxaca, has brought his passion and knowledge along with his substantial collection of opera DVDs to share with us.
