Synopsis:

This talk focuses on the three species of the green macaw which are found in Mexico. After describing its habitat, its evolution and where it lives, its present situation and conservation strategies based on the cosmovision of indigenous peoples that co-exist with the macaws are presented. This bilingual talk will be richly illustrated. 


Presenter:

Héctor Aguilar studied biology at the National School of the Biological Sciences of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) in Mexico City. He has worked on investigation and conservation of biodiversity, particularly related to species under threat of extinction in the State of Oaxaca.
