Tour Description: The three archeological sites we will visit today are less visited and yet hold so much of the story of the Oaxaca Valley 10,000 years ago in their stones. Come out and explore with us today how these smaller sites relate to Monte Alban, and their stories and importance in the Oaxaca we know and love today.

We’ll start our day with retired custodian Toño at Dainzu. He is a treasure of information and loves this archeological site and it’s beauty and mystery.

Enjoy exploring the site and learning how this site, nestled into the base of the hill, plays into the rise and fall of Monte Alban.

Next we will head over to Teotitlan del Valle to the small section of the archeological site there, stopping in to see Roman at the community

museum and Ron can share some exciting discoveries that a recent archeological team has revealed from their work in July in this community.

Lunch will be in Teotitlán.

After lunch, we will take the short drive over to Lambityeco, and discover yet another indigenous group who played a major role in trade and power in

the Oaxaca valley.

NOTE: If you have an INAPAM card, entrance into the archeological sites is no charge, otherwise they are between $75 and $100 pesos.

Lunch: Lunch will be around 12:30. Expect to pay about 250 pesos for food and beverages.

This tour will depart on time from in front of Calle Los Libres 710 behind the Grand Fiesta Americana Hotel. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before departure time. Unclaimed seats may be re-sold at boarding time.
