Trip description:

There is no shortage of artists in Oaxaca. The city is fortunate to have such a flourishing artist community. Cruz Alejandro and his sons are prolific painters. We will have a chance to meet them and admire some of their work when we visit their studio. Afterwards we will stop at the gallery of Fernando Andriacci, a renowned artist whose metal sculptures can be seen at many locations around the city. Most famous for his sculptures, Fernando is also a very imaginative painter; he also works with ceramics and glass. You will be amazed by the inventiveness of his art work. Our last stop of the

day will be at the Orquidiario La Encantada of Octavio Suarez, a biologist who has devoted his life to raising orchids at his facility in Huayapam. The Orquidiario has in its inventory 85% of the orchids that grow in this state, in addition to lots of bromeliads and other native plants.

Additional Fees:  150 pesos admission fee at the orquidiario.

Lunch stop: The group will enjoy lunch at one of the lakeside restaurants in the park just outside Huayapam. Los Charalitos offers a varied menu of simple dishes at reasonable prices. Expect to pay between 100 and 200 pesos for food and beverage.
