This new tour will visit the fields around Santiago Matatlan, often called the “world capital of mezcal,” where we are able to see different species of agaves. We will then visit the distillery for Ilegal Mezcal, a brand dedicated to sustainability and biodiversity. The mezcal is handcrafted in small batched by fourth generation mezcaleros. After seeing all the processes for baking, smashing, fermenting, distilling we will sample some of the various kinds of mezcals. After we finish the mezcal tasting we will move on to a pulqueria for an explanation and tasting of the pulque, and a discussion of the difference between pulque and mezcal.

Not included: Lunch will be at a restaurant with an extensive buffet. Expect to pay about 200-250 pesos for food and beverage.

Additional Costs:   Pulque and Mezcal will be available for purchase. Credit cards may be used for mezcal, but not pulque

This tour will depart on time at 9:00 am  from the parking lot across from the south side of Llano Park. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before departure time. Unclaimed seats may be re-sold at boarding time.

If this tour is sold out, you can take a chance that seats may be available and come to the boarding spot 15 minutes before departure. These seats must be paid for in cash.
