Trip description
 Oaxaca and its surrounding villages is filled with talented and creative artists. Our plan is to visit two internationally known artists, Susana Wald and Roman Andrade Llaguno. We will have a chance to meet them, hear about their processes, and admire some of their work when we visit their studios. We will then have the rare opportunity of going to the Orquidiario La Encantada of Octavio Suarez, a biologist who has devoted his life to raising orchids at his facility in San Andreas Huayapam. It is his passion, and clearly the winding pathways reflect this labor of love. The Orquidiario has in its inventory 85% of the orchids that grow in this state, about 1200 species, and also lots of bromeliads and other native plants as well as a babbling brook. After an introduction, you will be free to wander. Finally, lunch will be at one of the lakeside restaurants in the park, La Presa, just outside Huayapam.

Not included: Expect to pay between 100 and 200 pesos for food and beverage.

Additional Costs: 150 pesos admission fee at the orquidiario. We may do a raffle for a piece of art. 

This tour will depart on time at 9:30 am  from the parking lot across from the south side of Llano Park. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before departure time. Unclaimed seats may be re-sold at boarding time.

If this tour is sold out, you can take a chance that seats may be available and come to the boarding spot 15 minutes before departure. These seats must be paid for in cash.

No Refunds will be available. If you are not able to attend the event, you are welcome to sell your reservation to others. Please notify the library of change of name for reservation.
